How It Works

We compute your exact age on the cutoff date (by default 01-Aug of the exam year), then compare it with the minimum/maximum age limits. Relaxations for OBC-NCL, SC/ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen are added using editable defaults. Attempt limits are also provided as editable presets. Always verify with the current UPSC notification.

Inputs Explained

  • Exam type, exam year, cutoff date: Select your target exam and year. The cutoff date defaults to 01-Aug but can be edited to match the notification.
  • Date of birth (DOB): Enter your date of birth to calculate your exact age.
  • Category and additional flags: Select your category (UR/EWS/OBC/SC/ST) and check any applicable flags (PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Government Employee).
  • Attempts taken so far: Enter the number of UPSC attempts you've already made.
  • Advanced rules: Edit min/max ages, relaxations, and attempts caps to match the current notification.

Example

DOB: 15-Jun-1996 | Exam year: 2026 | Cutoff: 01-Aug-2026 | Category: OBC-NCL | PwBD: No | Attempts taken: 3

  • Age on cutoff: 30 years, 1 month, 17 days
  • Limits (defaults): Min 21; Max 32 + OBC relax 3 = 35 → Eligible
  • Attempts cap (defaults): OBC 9 → remaining = 9 − 3 = 6
  • Last eligible year: (if over age, we'd show the last year where age ≤ max)

Tips & Notes

  • Cutoff dates and relaxations change. Always compare with the current UPSC notification and PIB/DoPT updates.
  • EWS is treated as UR for age by default; edit as needed in Advanced rules.
  • Relaxations may not be strictly additive; this tool uses an editable total for simplicity.
  • For IFoS or other UPSC exams, select Exam type and adjust limits.
