IGCSE Calculator

Estimate your IGCSE grades with your exam's real boundaries. Add subjects, enter your raw marks and grade boundaries (CAIE/Edexcel/OCR), and see your subject grades and overall average. This is an unofficial planning tool.

Grade Boundary Presets

Create and save boundary sets to reuse across subjects. Each preset stores minimum marks for each grade.

Points Mapping

Define how letter/number grades map to points for overall calculation.

How It Works

Each subject grade depends on published grade boundaries for your subject, board, and year. Enter those thresholds (minimum marks for each grade) and we map your raw marks to a grade (9–1 or A*–G).

You can compute an overall average by percentage or by points (customizable mapping). Weight subjects if some carry more importance.

Inputs Explained

  • Board & Scale: Choose your board (CAIE/Edexcel/OCR) and grade scale (9–1 or A*–G). Scales can vary—verify with your boundary sheet.
  • Grade Boundaries: Set "minimum marks" per grade. Save as presets and reuse across subjects.
  • Subjects: Add rows with Subject, Max Marks, Your Marks, and Weight (if needed).
  • Overall: Average by percentage or points; optionally apply weighting.

Example

Example boundaries (illustrative only):

9–1 scale (out of 200): 9≥180, 8≥170, 7≥160, 6≥145, 5≥130, 4≥115, 3≥95, 2≥75, 1≥60

Subjects:

  • Maths (Max 200, Marks 164) → Grade 7 (82%), Points 7
  • Physics (200, 153) → Grade 6 (76.5%), Points 6
  • Chemistry (200, 171) → Grade 8 (85.5%), Points 8
  • Biology (200, 142) → Grade 6 (71%), Points 6

Overall:

  • Overall by percentage (unweighted): (82 + 76.5 + 85.5 + 71)/4 ≈ 78.8%
  • Overall by points: (7 + 6 + 8 + 6)/4 = 6.75

Tips & Notes

  • Boundaries differ by board, subject, and year. Always use the exact sheet for your exam session.
  • If your subject uses component weighting (Paper 1/2), combine to a raw total before entering, or add each component as a separate "Subject" with weights.
  • Points mapping is not standardized—edit to match any program that reports averages by rank/points.

FAQs

On your board's official site (CAIE/Edexcel/OCR). Boundaries change each session.

Yes. You can override the scale and preset per subject.

If Weighted is ON, overall = weighted mean using each subject's weight (or credits). Otherwise, a simple mean.

Enter raw thresholds in marks (min marks out of Max). If you only know % thresholds, multiply by Max to get marks.
