How It Works

Your GPA is the weighted average of your grade points. We multiply each course's credits by its SRM grade point (O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6, C=5, P=4; Fail/Ab/W/I=0), add them up, and divide by total credits.

Formula:

GPA = Σ(credits × grade_points) / Σ(credits)

Result is rounded to 2 decimal places.

Note: Rules can vary by regulation/year. You can edit the scale in Advanced options.

Inputs Explained

Course Name
Optional field (helpful for export/share). Enter the subject name for reference.
Credits
Number of credit hours for the course. Typically 1–5 credits for theory courses and 1–2 credits for lab courses.
Grade
Select from SRM letters (O/A+/A/B+/B/C/P/F/Ab/W/I) or your custom scale. Each grade maps to specific points on the 10-point scale.
Options
Treat P as pass (4 points); exclude fail/withdrawn credits per your handbook.
Advanced
Change scale, import/export CSV, share link, reset defaults.

Example Calculation

Let's calculate GPA for a typical SRM semester with 5 courses:

Course Credits Grade Points Credit × Points
Calculus 4 A (8) 8 32
Thermodynamics 3 B+ (7) 7 21
Data Structures 3 A+ (9) 9 27
Physics Lab 2 O (10) 10 20
Elective 3 B (6) 6 18
Total 15 118

Calculation: GPA = 118 ÷ 15 = 7.87

Tips & Notes

  • Verify current SRM regulation: Check your SRM handbook for grade letters and pass rules (P/F/W/I usage). Different years may have variations.
  • Repeated courses: Policies may replace the older grade with the latest pass—enter the attempt that counts on your transcript.
  • Save your work: Use Export/Share to keep records and test "what-if" scenarios. The calculator doesn't store data permanently.
  • Lab courses: Lab courses typically carry 1–2 credits. Enable the "Include Labs" option to quickly add lab course rows.
  • P grade handling: The P grade typically means Pass (4 points). Toggle the option if your department treats it differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

GPA = Σ(credits × grade_points) / Σ(credits) using SRM's 10-point scale (O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6, C=5, P=4; F/Ab/W/I=0). Each course's credit hours are multiplied by the grade points earned, summed up, and divided by total credits attempted.
